The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced, in an official statement issued on 4 October 2026, the arrest of the criminal "Jamal Tarabulsi".
The ministry explained in its statement that the arrest was carried out by the "Counterterrorism Directorate", noting that the detainee "Tarabulsi" is the deputy of the criminal "Ali Kayali", known as "Mihrac Ural".
"Jamal Tarabulsi" is considered one of the prominent field commanders and the right hand of "Kayali" within the "Syrian Resistance - Popular Front for the Liberation of the Iskenderun Brigade" militia, which was mainly active on the Syrian coast during the past years.
The name of this militia and its commanders has been linked to the commission of horrific massacres, most notably the "al-Bayda" and "Baniyas" massacres in the Tartus countryside in 2013, in addition to their involvement in wide-ranging violence and abuses.
