Accounts and pages on social media circulated an image whose publishers claimed it was recent and shows soldiers of the Israeli occupation army stepping on the Syrian flag in the southern Daraa countryside.

The Kashaf team verified the circulating image by conducting a reverse search and digital tracing, and it turned out that the image was fabricated and had undergone digital manipulation, as the results showed that the original version dates back to 26 June 2024 and was previously published as being in the city of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip, showing occupation army soldiers stepping on the flag of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and not the Syrian flag.

In a related context, the platform's team contacted the "Kashaf" correspondent in Daraa, who in turn confirmed that there was no incursion into the south-western areas of the governorate, denying that any advance by the Israeli occupation army had been recorded that day.

Why is this claim misleading?

Digitally edited content: The claim relied on manipulating an original image and replacing the Saudi flag with the Syrian flag, to suggest an incursion by the Israeli occupation army into the southern Daraa countryside, contrary to what the Kashaf correspondent confirmed about the absence of any incursion or advance in the area.
