Accounts and pages on social media circulated a video clip whose publishers claimed that it documents a recent protest in the Aleppo countryside against the Syrian government and President "Ahmed al-Sharaa".
The Kashaf team verified the circulating clip by conducting a reverse search and digital tracing of the video frames, and it turned out that the clip is old and was used outside its temporal and geographic context, as the results showed that the video was published on 3 May 2024 and in fact documents a protest that took place in the city of Idlib against "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham", not in the Aleppo countryside.
Why is this claim misleading?
