Accounts and pages on social media circulated a video whose publishers claimed it was filmed in the city of Latakia, showing a group of people listening to songs glorifying the leader of the defunct regime.

The Kashaf team verified the circulating clip by carrying out a precise visual analysis of its landmarks, observing a complete match between the video's components and digital maps, specifically the landmarks of the "City Centre" building, the columns of one of the bridges and other structural details, which proves that the filming location is the Hazmieh area in the Lebanese capital Beirut, and that the scenes have no connection to the city of Latakia.

Why is this claim misleading?

Footage moved from one place to another: Using scenes filmed in Lebanon and claiming they were taken in the city of Latakia attributes to a Syrian city a scene that did not take place there, and builds on it a local impression that has no basis.
