Kashaf traced the main signs of escalation in Sweida over the recent period, from Israeli helicopter movements observed by its correspondent, through reports of Israeli support, to accounts on social media promoting a new military confrontation. This investigation tracks the similarities in the wording and timing of the circulating posts, and what an examination of the accounts behind them reveals.
Helicopter Movements: Repeated Landings in Sweida
A Kashaf correspondent observed repeated landings of Israeli helicopters in Sweida over the recent period, while the correspondent's sources, along with open-source data, confirmed the transfer of light weapons and logistical supplies through them. Swarms of helicopters were also observed two days before Kashaf published these indicators, coinciding with flights by Israeli reconnaissance aircraft, movements that circulating reports and posts tied to various efforts and claims, as the following sections document.
Reports of Israeli Support: A Military Base and a Geographic Link

Reports linked the aircraft movements to Israeli efforts to establish a military base in Sweida, spoke of alleged Israeli support for linking Israeli bases in Quneitra and the Daraa countryside to Sweida, and also pointed to efforts to strengthen the Israeli military presence in southern Syria. Among the material Kashaf presented in this context is a report by the Al-Modon website dated 19 October 2026, whose headline speaks of the "National Guard" planning to expand its control in Sweida "with Israeli support".
The Digital Campaign: Promoting a Coming Battle

From political promises to a digital campaign about a coming battle, Kashaf monitored accounts promoting a possible new military confrontation in the Sweida countryside and claiming that groups affiliated with Hikmat al-Hijri were preparing to attack areas controlled by the Syrian government, with their posts linking these claims to the recent Israeli helicopter movements. One example is a post by an account named (Johar Aljohary) that read "be ready, the final episode is coming soon", accompanied by an image centred on a Star of David.
Shared Indicators: Similar Wording and Synchronized Posting
An analysis of the posts showed similar wording across a number of accounts, while posts similar in content and timing appeared simultaneously across different accounts and pages. Accounts and pages bearing the name "Al-Bashan" also appeared, publishing content similar in some respects, among them the "Bashan 24" page, which posted that "the misgivings of fear" had begun "creeping into the corridors of the Umayyads" and that "the coming days carry a decisive shift, and there will be no room for forgiveness or retreat".
The Accounts' Background: Promoting Secession and Possible Coordination

An examination of the accounts showed that some of them promote the secession of Sweida from Syria, such as a post by an account named "Nowras Sami al-Ashqar" stating that "Jabal Bashan" is now "officially treated as a geographic and political region independent of Damascus" and classified as an ally within what it called the "Blue Alliance" system. Posting patterns and shared content recurred, with narratives moving between the accounts in an organized manner, and the synchronized posting and similar wording point to possible coordination among them.
Between Preparation and Amplification: An Open Question
Three tracks intersect in the scene Kashaf traced: Israeli helicopter movements observed by its correspondent, reports that speak of Israeli support, and accounts promoting a coming battle and tying their claims to the helicopter movements, while some of them promote the secession of Sweida from Syria. Taken together, these indicators raise an open question: do they reflect preparation for a new confrontation, or an amplification of the prospects of escalation through posts similar in their wording and timing?
