Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published on his Facebook account a video clip from an interview broadcast by the Israeli channel "Kan 11" with Sheikh Marwan Kiwan from As-Suwayda, commenting on the clip: "We will always stand by our Druze brothers across the Middle East".

In the interview, Kiwan described Hamas as "terrorist" and linked it to the Syrian government over what was committed in the "July" massacres, then thanked the state of Israel, "its government and its people".

The clip comes against the backdrop of a gathering held in Al-Karama Square in the city of As-Suwayda on Wednesday 7 October, which its organisers described as being in solidarity with Israel on the anniversary of the 7 October attacks, and in which participants raised Israeli flags and pictures of Netanyahu and Hikmat al-Hijri.
