Accounts on social media circulated a video showing armed men whose publishers claimed were residents of the Al-Aziziyah neighborhood in Al-Hasakah governorate, threatening any armed man entering the neighborhood from outside the Syrian government forces.
The Kashaf team traced the video using reverse search tools and found that the clip was published on 24/09/2015, filmed by the Australian war correspondent Michael Ware, and appeared in the documentary "only the dead", which deals with the course of the American invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Why Is the Report Misleading?
Out of its temporal and geographic context: the claim relied on taking a clip from a documentary about the American invasion of Iraq and stripping it of its temporal, spatial and topical context by inventing unreliable claims, to suggest that it documents a current event in Al-Hasakah.
