Illustrative image

Accounts on social media circulated a video clip showing a person stumbling while reading a statement, with claims that he belongs to the Syrian government.

The circulated clip attributed to a Syrian official

The Kashaf team followed up on the claim and carried out a digital trace that included converting the video into still frames and running a reverse search on them using Google Lens. This showed that the video was published by an account named "ahmadssgarage" on the "TikTok" platform on 2 September 2025, under the title "our strong Syrian information minister", in which the account holder appears portraying the character of the information minister in a satirical manner, across several shots.

Why is this claim misleading?

Satirical content: a satirical acted clip published by an account on the "TikTok" platform on 2 September 2025, in which its owner portrays the character of the information minister, was recirculated as documenting a Syrian government official.
