The truth about an alleged presidential notice imposing fines and confiscating property from some camp residents

Accounts and pages on social media circulated a document attributed to the General Secretariat of the Presidency, labelled a “notice,” alleging the imposition of a monthly fine of 100 dollars on some camp residents who own property or vehicles worth more than 19,000 dollars, along with a threat to confiscate their property if they circumvent the decision.

The Kashaf team tracked the circulating document and, by reviewing the official platforms of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, found the claim to be misleading and the document forged, as no trace or official announcement of this notice could be found. A careful examination of the document revealed clear signs of forgery: the font used in the body of the notice is a modern digital font common on websites and does not match the official fonts approved by the General Secretariat, while distortions were also observed in the seal used. Moreover, tracing decision number “23” cited in the document showed that it in fact refers to an announcement of the Eid al-Adha holiday and has nothing to do with the alleged decision.

Why is this claim misleading?

Forgery and fabrication of official documents: A document and notice attributed to the General Secretariat of the Presidency was fabricated regarding the imposition of fines and confiscation of property from some camp residents, using forged seals and unofficial fonts, and repurposing decision numbers unrelated to the original subject.
