Accounts on social media circulated a statement attributed to President Ahmad Al-Sharaa containing a threat to confront Israel militarily after tribes advanced toward areas near Israeli defensive positions, alongside a claim that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded with reciprocal threats to enter and occupy Syria and to hold accountable those who harmed the Druze in Suwayda.
The Kashaf team traced the circulating statements by searching with relevant keywords, alongside reviewing official sources, credible media outlets, and news agencies, and found no statement issued by President Ahmad Al-Sharaa or by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu containing these phrases. Nor did these claims appear in any official statements or accredited media coverage, which confirms the falsehood of this news attributed to both parties.
Why is this claim false?
Fabrication of fictitious statements: The circulating post falls entirely within the framework of fake news, in which reciprocal statements between the two sides that have no basis in reality were deliberately crafted and an attempt was made to tie them to field events and tensions in the Suwayda area, with the aim of stirring up strife and falsifying official political positions.
