The truth about the alleged suspension of passenger and truck traffic at the Bab al-Salama crossing

Accounts and pages on social media platforms circulated a report alleging the suspension of passenger and truck traffic at the Bab al-Salama border crossing.

The Kashaf team tracked the circulating claim and, through direct contact with a private source at the Bab al-Salama crossing, found the claim to be misleading and taken out of its actual context. The source confirmed that the crossing is operating normally as usual, and explained that the traffic halt is limited to a specific window from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. only, due to the Turkish side clearing landmines between the Syrian and Turkish sides in preparation for opening a dedicated road for trucks.

Why is this claim misleading?

Cherry-picking the information and stripping its technical context: A temporary, four-hour morning halt of traffic at the Bab al-Salama crossing was generalized into a false claim of a complete suspension of passenger and truck traffic, even though the measure is temporary and was taken for logistical and technical reasons related to securing the road.
