Accounts and pages on social media circulated a graphic attributed to Syria TV, claiming that a presidential decree numbered 113 had been issued banning the father of Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa from giving any press or television interviews.
Kashaf’s team traced the circulating claim through an advanced search of Syria TV’s official accounts and published media content, and found that the outlet never published this item; the graphic circulating under its name is fabricated. A review of Syria’s official records to verify Decree No. 113 showed that it is a real decree, but it has nothing to do with the president’s father or media interviews: it is a legislative decree issued to regulate the provisions and definitions of the sovereign fund.
Why is this claim misleading?
Fabricated content: A graphic was forged in the name of a media outlet and the text of a non-existent decree was published, exploiting the number of a real official decree concerning the sovereign fund to spread false information and mislead public opinion.
