Pages on social media circulated a report claiming that an Israeli drone had struck a military checkpoint in the Yarmouk basin area of rural Daraa.
Kashaf conducted a field investigation by contacting its correspondent in the area, and established that there is no checkpoint belonging to Hamas or any armed faction at the stated location, and that those present were civilians from the area. The correspondent explained that a number of children had placed stones on the road, and residents had parked their vehicles along its edges to try to limit the incursion of occupation forces into the area between the villages of Abdin and Ma'ariya. During this, the Israeli drone dropped a stun grenade near the vehicles, with no deaths, injuries or casualties recorded.
Why is this claim misleading?
