US President "Donald Trump" reposted, on Monday 24 August, a message by Syrian Foreign Minister "Asaad al-Shaibani", in which the latter thanked the United States following the removal of Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
"Al-Shaibani" said in his message that Syria had "closed a dark chapter" by ending the classification imposed on it since 1979, praising the efforts of President "Trump", Secretary of State "Marco Rubio" and Ambassador "Tom Barrack" in achieving this step.
Trump's reposting of the message comes after the US State Department officially announced Syria's removal from the list, following the expiry of the 45-day constitutional period allotted for congressional review.
