Pages and accounts on social media circulated posts and a video claiming a complete absence of health oversight at the bakery in the town of Tabni, in the western Deir ez-Zor countryside, accusing the relevant authorities of turning a blind eye to violations.
Kashaf traced the oversight measures taken in the area and found that the Deir ez-Zor branch of the Central Authority for Oversight and Inspection, in cooperation with the supply police, carried out a field inspection of the Tabni bakery in response to residents' complaints about bread quality. The inspection resulted in formal supply citations being issued against the bakery under the regulations in force, after several violations were recorded — including failure to comply with health requirements, poor dough preparation, and a lack of cleanliness.
Why is this claim misleading?
Distortion of the inspection record: The existence of operational violations inside the bakery does not mean oversight was absent — on the contrary, the relevant authorities acted on the ground and recorded those violations.
Legal action was taken: Formal citations were issued against the bakery's management as soon as the breaches were identified; they were not overlooked.
