Pages on social media circulated a video, with those publishing it claiming that it was recent and documented a mobilization of Syrian army units, with the Ministry of Defense issuing directives to raise readiness and send reinforcements to the Syrian-Iraqi border.

A still from the circulating post showing a gathering of military personnel

The fact-checking team subjected the clip to a visual analysis that included extracting still frames and running them through a reverse image search, alongside a keyword search. It emerged that the video had been published on 22 September 2025 and documents the graduation of a course from Division 62 of the Ministry of Defense. The verification also showed that the clip matches other recordings of the same graduation in terms of the assembly yard, the entrance, the wall and the surrounding buildings, confirming that the scenes belong to that same event and are unrelated to any recent mobilization or military reinforcements on the Syrian-Iraqi border.

Why is this claim misleading?

Out of temporal context: The claim relied on an old clip dating to September 2025 of a military course graduation, recirculated with a description implying that it documented a current mobilization and reinforcements on the border with Iraq, in order to suggest a military escalation that the facts do not support.
