The truth about a video claimed to show the Syrian army after Syria's liberation

Pages and accounts on social media platforms circulated a video claiming that it documents members of the Syrian army after the liberation of Syria, in a comparison with the Syrian army during the rule of the deposed president Bashar al-Assad.

The fact-checking team subjected the clip to digital tracking that included breaking it into still frames and running reverse-image searches, along with reviewing its temporal and visual context, and found that the clip is old and documents members of the Taliban in Afghanistan, with no connection to the Syrian army or to the events Syria witnessed after the liberation.

Why is this claim misleading?

Out of temporal and geographic context: The claim relied on an old clip filmed outside Syria showing members of the Taliban in Afghanistan, republished in a different context to suggest that it documents the Syrian army after the liberation.
