Accounts and pages on social media circulated a statement attributed to Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra, which its publishers claimed was a message to members of the Syrian Arab Army stating that the Ministry of Defense salaries would not be paid this month because of the weakness of the resources available to the state.

The Kashaf team checked the circulating statement by searching for keywords in open sources and by reviewing the official accounts of the Defense Minister, and it emerged that it is entirely false and that it was not established to have been made by him or issued through any of his official platforms. Clear spelling mistakes were also noted in the circulating text, such as writing the Arabic word for "this" as "لهاذ" instead of "لهذا", which confirms that it is fabricated.
Why is this claim false?
Fabricated statements: The claim rested on a fabricated statement attributed to Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra that was not established to have been made by him or issued through any of his official platforms, and the fabrication of statements and administrative decisions attributed to the Defense Minister concerning the halting of salaries and the like is intended to stir public anxiety.
