A person identified as Maher Sharaf al-Din published a report claiming that Internal Security Forces and Bedouin clans targeted civilian homes in the city of Sweida with mortar shells and heavy machine guns.

Kashaf's correspondent in Sweida denied the accuracy of what was being circulated regarding the city of Sweida being subjected to mortar shelling or its residential neighborhoods being targeted with heavy machine guns, confirming that field verification showed no such attacks occurred against civilian homes. Our correspondent clarified that clashes broke out between Internal Security Forces and the National Guard militia, after the latter targeted Internal Security Forces positions with heavy machine guns on the Tell Hadid axis west of Sweida governorate.
Why is this claim misleading?
Fabrication of field news: the claim relied on undocumented information about civilian homes being targeted, while field verification by Kashaf's correspondent showed that the actual clashes were limited to confrontations between Internal Security Forces and the National Guard militia on the Tell Hadid axis, with no targeting of civilian homes.
