Lebanon's General Security carried out a raid targeting a drug warehouse in the Beqaa region, arresting a number of people, among them Suleiman Hilal al-Assad, a cousin of the former regime's head Bashar al-Assad.

According to Al Arabiya sources, the Syrian government asked its Lebanese counterpart to hand over the detainee Suleiman al-Assad so he could be tried in due form on the charges against him.

Suleiman Hilal al-Assad is accused of involvement in killings and violations against Syrians during the years of the revolution, and of running cross-border drug smuggling networks.
