Pages on social media circulated a statement attributed to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, claiming that he said the Hamas movement killed innocent Israelis during the events of October 7 and that he expressed regret for that.
The Kashaf team reviewed the full recording of the panel session held by the "Atlantic Council" in New York and found that al-Sharaa, in response to a question about what happened to Israelis on October 7, indicated his understanding of what happened to some innocent people, while at the same time calling for an understanding of what happened in Gaza, pointing to the killing of more than 74,000 people, including children and women.

Truncation and distortion: The statement was truncated and presented outside its full context, as al-Sharaa, in the same session, spoke of his understanding of what happened to some innocent people while also calling for an understanding of what happened in Gaza.
