The fact-checking team followed the published material and ran a reverse image search on it, and found that the video was published by journalist Tamer Turkmani on 29 May 2026 and reshared by Moussa al-Omar on his personal account. It shows him joking with a citizen after the citizen asked for electricity and fuel, with al-Omar commenting on the video by saying: if it were up to me I would make it free.. but there is no money.

Why is this claim misleading?

Reposting an old video in a different context: A clip published in May 2026 was taken out of its time and subject context and presented as a reaction to the recent rise in fuel prices, to suggest that the journalist had mocked citizens' demands.
