Accounts on social media circulated a photo claimed to belong to a “morality police” in Syria, alleging that this body is tasked with preserving public morals and tightening surveillance in streets and parks.
Following up on the circulating claim, the Kashaf team found no official institution or body in Syria bearing the name “morality police.” The circulating image was also subjected to technical examination via “Undetectable,” a platform specialized in detecting and analyzing digital content, and the results showed, with a decisive ratio, that the image was entirely generated by artificial intelligence techniques and does not document any real entity or actual event on the ground.
Why is this claim misleading?
AI-generated fabrication: The image was generated digitally to manufacture a fictitious scene of personnel and vehicles that do not exist in reality, and was falsely and misleadingly attributed to a fabricated security body under the name “morality police” in Syria.
