No truth to claims that ISIS carried out a bombing at the Mayadin bridge in the Deir ez-Zor countryside

Pages and accounts on social media circulated a report whose publishers claimed that ISIS had carried out a bombing at the Mayadin bridge in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, causing deaths and injuries.

The circulating content

The Kashaf team digitally tracked the circulating content, reviewed open sources, and cross-checked the information with field sources, and found that the circulated explosions are not linked to any hostile act. Rather, they fall within controlled engineering blasts carried out by the military engineering teams of the Syrian army as part of works to rehabilitate and refit the Mayadin bridge.

Why is this claim misleading?

Distortion of content: The nature of official engineering works was distorted and presented as a bombing carried out by ISIS, in order to spread panic and imply a resurgence of the activity of the group in the area.
