What is the truth of the photo attributed to the anesthesia room at Latakia University Hospital?

Numerous accounts on social media circulated a photo claimed to document the anesthesia room in the operations department at Latakia University Hospital, showing a dirty place strewn with cigarette butts.

The circulating post of the photo attributed to the anesthesia room

The Kashaf team followed up on the claim and contacted two sources inside Latakia University Hospital. Both sources confirmed that the circulating photo does indeed come from the hospital, but that it is not of the anesthesia room, rather of the doctors rest room.

The two sources explained that the sterilization room comes directly after the rest room, followed by the operating room. They said the circulating photo does not reflect, according to their account, an isolated case, but comes within a wider context of what they described as administrative failure inside the hospital, represented by weak oversight and follow-up in some departments. They noted that this has affected compliance with internal instructions, particularly regarding the smoking ban and maintaining the level of cleanliness in a number of facilities.

Why is this claim misleading?

A change of context: Based on the accounts of two sources inside Latakia University Hospital, who agreed on the location and content of the photo, the circulating image is of the doctors rest room and not of the anesthesia room or the sterilization room as claimed, which makes circulating it under that description misleading.
