Accounts on social media circulated a video that their publishers claimed documents the moment an Iranian missile fell in the vicinity of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The Kashaf platform team examined the circulating clip and converted it into still frames to conduct a precise and extensive reverse search. The verification results via Google Lens showed that the video is old and has no connection to Damascus or the events taking place there, as the original publication date of the footage goes back to June 15, 2025, and it in fact documents the moment an Iranian missile fell over the city of Tamra, located in the Galilee region.
Why is this claim misleading?
Alteration of the temporal and geographic context: The accounts took an old clip filmed in the city of Tamra a year earlier and republished it in an entirely new context, to mislead followers into believing it captures a recent missile strike in the vicinity of the capital, Damascus.
