The truth about a circulating video of Hezbollah targeting Syrian army members near the Lebanese border

Accounts on social media circulated a video, describing it as recent, claiming it shows Syrian army members wounded while trying to approach the Lebanese border after being targeted by "Hezbollah."

The fact-checking team subjected the clip to a digital investigation that included a reverse image search using Google Lens, analysis of the visual scenes, and matching the content details against open sources, and found that the video is old. It dates back to an incident in which the "Hezbollah" militia targeted Syrian journalists while they were covering border skirmishes on 17 March 2025, and is not a recent incident as circulated.

Why is this claim misleading?

An old video re-posted in a different context: The claim relied on an old clip from March 2025 documenting an earlier incident, re-circulated as if it documented a current event, to mislead viewers about the timing and nature of the incident.
