Pages and accounts on social media circulated a video claiming it documents a fight and dispute inside what was called the "war tent" recently set up by Arab tribes in the Al-Hasakah countryside.
The fact-checking team traced the circulating clip by breaking it into still frames and running reverse image searches, and found that it is old and unrelated to current events in Al-Hasakah, having previously been published on YouTube and Iraqi accounts on 18 February 2022.
Why is this claim misleading?
Out of temporal and geographic context: The claim relied on an old clip filmed in Iraq in 2022 and re-presented as documenting a recent fight in the Arab tribes' "war tent" in the Al-Hasakah countryside, to suggest a current split among the tribes.
