Pages and accounts across social media circulated a video clip that publishers claimed was recent and documented violent clashes, the use of heavy weapons, and deaths in the city of Hama.

The Kashaf team ran a digital trace that included converting the video into still frames, running reverse searches on them, and matching results against open sources. It found the video dates to 26 July 2026 and documents armed confrontations that broke out between tribal fighters and the Houthi militia in Yemen. It bears no relation to the city of Hama or events in Syria.
Why is this claim misleading?
Removed from its geographic and temporal context: An old video clip documenting armed confrontations in Yemen was circulated and falsely tied to the city of Hama to give it an incorrect context.
