Pages on social media platforms circulated a video clip, claiming it was recent, said to show General Security arresting members of Division 70 of the Syrian Arab Army while they were stealing copper cables in Rif Dimashq.
The fact-checking team verified the clip through digital tracing that included breaking it into still frames and running a reverse search on them, which showed that the clip dates back to 28/08/2025, and not to a recent incident as its publishers claimed.
Why is this claim misleading?
