Pages on social media circulated a video whose publishers claimed it was recent and that it documented a demonstration in Damascus in solidarity with the people of Yemen and Palestine.

The fact-checking team traced the clip by breaking it into still frames and running a reverse image search on them, alongside comparing its content with archived visual material. The match showed that the video dates back to a demonstration in Al-Hamidiyah Souq in Damascus on April 7, 2025, in solidarity with the people of Gaza, and not to a recent demonstration as the claim stated.
Why is this claim misleading?
A change of context: An old clip documenting a demonstration in solidarity with the people of Gaza was recirculated and presented as a recent demonstration in support of the people of Yemen, changing both the time of the event and its cause, to suggest an event that did not occur at the claimed date.
