Accounts and pages on social media circulated a video clip, with its publishers claiming it recently shows a girl recounting the details of an attempted kidnapping she suffered at the hands of a woman in the capital, Damascus.
Kashaf’s team traced the circulating clip and broke it down into still frames using reverse-image search tools across open sources. The results showed the clip is old: local news networks published it on 3 October 2025, and in it the girl recounts an incident that had happened to her earlier — not a new event taking place now.
