The claim proved misleading and entirely false: his son Hazem al-Arour categorically denied the circulating reports through his official account, confirming that his father is well and safe, and explaining that he is going through a health condition that required his admission to hospital for treatment, expressing hope for his discharge and recovery as soon as possible — based on the updates issued as of 31 May 2026.
