The Media and Communication Directorate of the Ministry of Defense announced the seizure of a boat that was attempting to carry dozens of people out of the country illegally off the coast of Latakia.
The directorate explained that information had been received about a boat carrying a number of people who were trying to leave the country illegally, which prompted the rapid intervention boats of the Naval Forces to pursue and intercept it before managing to stop it.
The directorate added that the search revealed 21 people, in addition to drivers, a mechanic and three smugglers, all of whom were detained and handed over to the competent authorities in accordance with procedures.
