The US Federal Register published an official notice stating the exemption of Syria from the remaining sanctions provided for under the "Chemical and Biological Weapons Control and Warfare Elimination Act of 1991", relating to arms sales and their financing.
Details of the report
The decision came on the basis of a presidential determination that recognised a "fundamental change in the leadership and policies of the government of the Syrian Arab Republic", which called for lifting the sanctions previously imposed because of the regime's use of chemical weapons.
