Pages and accounts on social media circulated a video, with those posting it claiming that it documented an announcement by the Bazi Kurd movement that it had raised its military readiness and that its forces were prepared to respond to any attack, attached to the word Breaking to suggest that the announcement had just been issued.
The fact-checking team verified the circulating clip by running a reverse image search to establish its reality, and found that the video is old, was used outside its temporal context and has no connection to current events, as the results and a review of sources showed that the clip had been published earlier, on 26 July 2026.
Why is this claim misleading?
Out of temporal context: The claim relied on recycling an old video dating to 26 July 2026, attaching the word Breaking to it and changing its temporal context to suggest that it documents a recent military announcement by the Bazi Kurd movement.
