Pages on social media circulated a video whose publishers claimed it documented a group of Kurds storming a mourning tent belonging to the Shammar tribe in the city of Qamishli and assaulting those attending it.

The fact-checking team compared what appeared in the circulating posts with the information issued by the Gathering of the Sons of the Shammar Tribe in Syria, and it emerged that the tent shown in the video does not belong to the tribe but to another clan. The gathering also announced its condemnation of the assault on the tent.
Why is this claim misleading?
Misattributed identity: The mourning tent was attributed in the circulating posts to the Shammar tribe contrary to the documented information, whereas it belongs to another clan.
