Accounts on social media circulated a video whose publishers claimed it showed Syrian fighters being captured, and that it was filmed in Yemen during the recent battles.

The fact-checking team traced the clip through a reverse search, and it emerged that the video was published by the media office of Field Marshal Haftar's forces in Libya on April 20, 2020, and shows the capture of Syrians said to be fighters moved from Syria to Libya to take part in the fighting there. The team had previously flagged a similar misleading claim that used the same clip.
Why is this claim misleading?
Out of temporal and geographical context: The claim relied on republishing a clip dating to 2020 and filmed in Libya, attributing it to current battles in Yemen, which lifts it out of its temporal, spatial and topical context.
