Numerous accounts on social media circulated a video claimed to show an Israeli flag raised over a mosque in Syria.

Following up on the circulated clip, the Kashaf verification team carried out digital tracing that included converting the video into still frames and running a reverse image search on them using Google Lens, and found that the video is not from Syria, but shows Israeli soldiers raising the Israeli flag over the minaret of the "Abu Ubaida" mosque in the Nur Shams camp in the city of Tulkarm in the West Bank.
Why is this news misleading?
False context: the video is genuine, but it documents an incident that took place in the Nur Shams camp in the city of Tulkarm in the West Bank, not in Syria as stated in the claim.
