Pages on social media circulated a report attributed to the "Reuters" news agency, claiming that French intelligence had revealed two visits made by Maher al-Assad to Israel, along with a visit to the UAE, with the aim of obtaining Israeli support for restoring Alawite control over the Syrian coast or declaring an "Alawite state", in exchange for Alawite recognition of Israel and an alliance with it backed by Russia.

The circulated claim attributed to the Reuters news agency

Following up on the report, the Kashaf team reviewed the archive of the "Reuters" news agency and its published material on Syria and Maher al-Assad, and found no report containing these allegations. A review of official and open media sources in Syria and Israel likewise showed no credible coverage of the alleged visits or of any agreement of this kind.
