"Hikmat al-Hijri" stated, in new remarks from his residence in the town of Qanawat, that the sacrifices made by As-Suwayda governorate in the face of what he described as "the ugliest forms of repression" by what he called "the de facto authority in Damascus" do not, in his words, have consequences limited to the governorate alone, but extend to become a cause that concerns the entire free world, adding that As-Suwayda is fighting its battle against terrorism on behalf of everyone.
"Al-Hijri" said that what the governorate has been subjected to amounts, according to his description, to "genocide", attributing this to its early demand for the establishment of a civil state. He added that As-Suwayda, according to his statement, is open to cooperation with any international party that respects its sovereignty, on condition that its dignity is preserved and that any interference affecting its independence is rejected.
On living conditions, "al-Hijri" said the governorate is under what he described as a "suffocating siege" that has affected basic necessities of life, including food, medicine and electricity, and expected that the coming period would witness, in his words, a easing at the regional level as a result of these sacrifices.
