Accounts on social media circulated a video clip that publishers claimed showed Lebanese Beqaa clans mobilising in support and arriving at the Syrian border, following reports that General Security intended to approach the Lebanese border and enter some villages close to southern Lebanon.
Returning to the Kashaf monitoring database, the fact-checking team found it had verified this clip on an earlier occasion. Reverse image searches at the time showed the video does indeed document preparations and mobilisation by clans in the Beqaa at the Syrian border, but that it is old and was published on 17/03/2025, linked to tensions that took place at the border then.
Why is this claim misleading?
Republishing an old video in a different context: a clip dating to 2025 that had already been verified was republished and framed within a new time frame, to claim it documents the current arrival of Beqaa clans at the Syrian border in response to reports of General Security approaching.
