Accounts on social media circulated a post whose publishers claimed that Turkey is pushing a large force of Syrian factions from the Latakia countryside toward the town of Baghuz in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, comprising dozens of vehicles and more than 7,000 personnel, coinciding with a mobilisation of the Iraqi "Popular Mobilisation Forces" on the other side of the border.

The circulating post about a military force being pushed toward the town of Baghuz

The Kashaf team followed up on the circulating claim through keyword searches and a review of official sources and platforms, and contacted a source in the press relations office of the Syrian Ministry of Defense to ask about the accuracy of the information.

The source denied to Kashaf, in full, the accuracy of what is circulating regarding the dispatch of a force comprising more than 7,000 personnel and dozens of vehicles from the Latakia countryside to Baghuz, coinciding with a corresponding mobilisation of the Iraqi Popular Mobilisation Forces.

Why is the news false?

Fabrication of field reports: Reports were published about massive military movements by Syrian factions toward the town of Baghuz, coinciding with alleged mobilisations of the Iraqi Popular Mobilisation Forces on the border, without relying on any field facts or credible sources.
