Kashaf verified the death of the young man Mohammad Hussam al-Din Ghumaira, from a severe deterioration in his health, following his earlier detention at the Al-Haffah police station in Latakia governorate.

The fact-checking team contacted the man's wife after news of his death emerged, and she confirmed that he died in hospital, days after he was taken by ambulance following injuries sustained during his detention, as Kashaf reported earlier in its account of the incident.
Ghumaira's wife had filed an official complaint with the Internal Security, while the Internal Security Command in Latakia announced that it had opened an investigation into the circumstances of the detention and into whether his health condition was taken into account, as he had haemophilia.
For its part, the Internal Security Command in Latakia confirmed the detention of seven people who were present at the place of detention at the time of the incident, pending investigation, in order to complete the procedures and uncover the full circumstances of the case.
