Pages and accounts on social platforms circulated a video claiming it showed the wife of "Mohammed Hamsho" appealing for her husband's case to be concluded quickly.

The fact-checking team verified the circulating claim through a digital trace of the video source, a search for the identity of the woman appearing in it, and a review of the original account that published the clip. The verification showed that the woman appearing in the video is journalist "Hala al-Qudsi", who had published the clip on her own page and pointed to threats against her and her children, against the backdrop of campaigns she said were being promoted against her from the capital Damascus. Al-Qudsi also published images of conversations she said contained death threats directed at her.

Why is this claim misleading?

Attributed to the wrong person: The video is genuine but belongs to journalist "Hala al-Qudsi", who published it on her own page, and it was wrongly attributed to the wife of "Mohammed Hamsho", which changes the clip's meaning and context.
