Social media pages and accounts circulated a video clip that publishers claimed documented a large number of deaths among elements loyal to President Ahmad al-Sharaa following clashes with elements loyal to Interior Minister Anas Khattab in the Jabal al-Zawiya area.

Digital tracing and reverse image search, alongside a review of the clip's original publication context, showed the video was reposted from Libyan pages and accounts. It documents the moment the bodies of those killed in armed clashes in the Libyan city of Zawiya — between forces affiliated with the defence and interior ministries in Abdul Hamid Dbeibah's government — arrived at a hospital. It has no connection to Syria.
Why is this claim misleading?
Misleading geographic context: The clip documents events that took place in the city of Zawiya in Libya and was recirculated with the claim that it showed clashes in the Jabal al-Zawiya area inside Syria.
