Pages and accounts on social media circulated an image whose posters claimed it documents the detainee nicknamed "Hayho" bearing marks of torture after his arrest.

The circulating image of the detainee nicknamed Hayho

The Kashaf team carried out a direct visual comparison between the circulating image and the official version published by the Ministry of Interior, and found edits to the circulating image: its lower part was cropped in a way that hides the height chart visible in the original version, along with differences in the shadows and the background around the head, indicators that the circulating image does not match the official published version.

Why is this claim misleading?

Digitally altered content: The claim relied on a digitally edited image that was cropped and had its surroundings changed to appear identical to the official version, in order to suggest that the detainee had been tortured, whereas the comparison with the original version reveals that it differs from it.
