Pages and accounts on social media circulated a video they said was recent and documented Syrian army members heading toward the Iraqi border.
Kashaf subjected the clip to a digital trace that included breaking it into still frames and running a reverse image search with Google Lens, and found that the video is old: it was posted on the X platform on 16 October 2019 under a description indicating that it shows National Army members reading the Quran while heading to the battlefronts.
Why is this claim misleading?
Reposting an old video in a different context: A clip dating back to 2019 was recirculated and framed as recent documentation of a military movement toward the Iraqi border, altering its time frame and falsely implying a link to current events.
