Accounts on social media circulated a video claiming it was recent and showed panic on the Iraqi side of the Yaarubiyah border crossing, coinciding with Syrian army forces reaching the Iraqi border, implying it documented ongoing developments.
A digital trace that included extracting still frames from the video and running a reverse-image search showed that the clip is old, with its circulation dating back to 23 January, before the recent developments on the Syrian-Iraqi border, which rules out any link to current events. The clip was also reshared recently with a new context suggesting it documented present developments, with nothing to support that.
