Pages and accounts on social media circulated reports alleging a new increase in the prices of gasoline and diesel in Syria.
As part of a field investigation, the Kashaf team contacted a source at the Syrian Petroleum Company, who denied that any change had been made to gasoline and diesel prices, confirming that the change was limited to a decrease in gas prices, with the price of a domestic gas cylinder reaching 1,470 new Syrian pounds and an industrial gas cylinder 2,350 new Syrian pounds.
Why is this claim misleading?
Distorting the content: The claim inverted what actually happened, turning a decrease in gas prices into an alleged increase in gasoline and diesel prices, contradicting the verified information and suggesting a rise that did not occur.
